At Virgin Wilderness Safaris, we are committed to creating meaningful impact beyond travel by supporting the communities we operate in. Through our education programme, we sponsor school fees for children from underprivileged families across Kenya, helping expand access to quality education and long-term opportunity.
Many of these families face complex and persistent barriers to education, including irregular or seasonal income, making it difficult to meet recurring school costs such as fees, uniforms, books, and exam requirements. In remote areas, long distances to school and limited access to safe transport often discourage regular attendance, particularly for younger children and girls. Food insecurity can also affect concentration and performance, while overcrowded classrooms and limited resources further challenge learning outcomes. In some households, children are expected to contribute to daily livelihoods — through domestic responsibilities or informal work, which can interrupt or entirely halt their education. Social factors, including early marriage or cultural expectations, may also disproportionately affect girls' ability to stay in school.
By easing the financial burden on families, our programme not only improves school attendance but also supports continuity in education, allowing children to progress and complete their studies. We believe that education is a transformative tool for breaking cycles of poverty, and we remain dedicated to empowering communities through long-term, responsible, and inclusive support initiatives.
