Offbeat Mara is a small, traditional safari camp, situated within the 74,000 acre Mara North Conservancy (MNC). The area is full of wildlife yet far from any other camp or lodge. MNC is only open to member camps and has a strict policy on game viewing etiquette. For these reasons our guests get a wholly exclusive experience that is otherwise becoming hard to find.
At Emboo River you will enjoy a luxurious holiday in the midst of nature, while positively contributing to this unique environment, conserving wildlife and empowering the local community. Game Drives start as soon as you jump into our Electric Safari Vehicle, because there are animals all around us. You can even see animals inside the lodge, as Emboo River is not fenced.
Enjoy a combination of luxury and rustic charm in our 10 private lava stone cottages with traditional thatched roofs, natural wood furniture and earth-toned decorations like beaded gourds, patterned pillows, and hand-woven rugs contrast with the gauzy white mosquito nets hanging gracefully over Mbweha Camp’s large, comfortable beds.
On the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in central Kenya’s Laikipia region is Alex Hunter’s atmospheric Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, the ultimate in Kenyan hospitality and safari excellence. Here you will share your space with the last two surviving northern white rhino in the world. Ol Pejeta’s seven traditional East African safari tents offer an excellent base from which to explore the secrets of this renowned conservancy.
The camp is in the low vehicle density wilderness zone of the conservancy and the wildlife viewing is a very private and rewarding activity. Not only is this East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary there is also a myriad of other wildlife to be seen including elephant, lion, cheetah, wild dog and abundant plains game. Ol Pejeta Conservancy also permits Night Game Drives which focus on species not seen on regular day drives.
