Nairobi, Kenya

Set the scene for a fortnight of bliss with a night at Hemingways in Nairobi, where your personal butler sees to your every need. Taking its cue from the grand properties of old, the rooms are spacious and inviting, each with its own balcony overlooking the Ngong Hills. There is Wi-Fi so you can let the folks back home know you’ve arrived safely in East Africa.

Visit the spa to get into a relaxed holiday mood, before a tasty meal at The Brasserie, which aspires to be the first Michelin-starred venue in Nairobi and pioneers cooking technology in Kenya. Hemingways also has its own patisserie and the champagne high teas are a special treat.

And after dinner, sink into your suite. The subtle palette and natural materials are complemented by brass, mahogany and leather. These flourishes of classic safari prepare you for your trip into the wild lands of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District tomorrow.

Days 2-4: Saruni Samburu | 3 Nights

On this day, after breakfast at the Hemingways Nairobi, your driver will transfer you to Wilson airport for your morning flight to Samburu. Upon arrival in Samburu an hour later, your Saruni Samburu guide will meet you and transfer you to the lodge, or take you on a game drive.

Afternoon game drive on Kalama Conservancy exploring over 200,000 acres of pristine wilderness in total privacy and sundowners with a breathtaking view.

Saruni Samburu’s six luxury villas are open and spacious, heralding spectacular views over Kenya’s Northern Frontier District and Mount Kenya in the distance. The warm and welcoming hospitality makes for an intimate and exceptional experience. The lodge is revered for its innovative, eco-chic architecture and interesting design and décor, as well as its Italian-inspired cuisine. Guests can enjoy the vast panoramas from the dining and lounge area, the infinity pool and the Samburu Wellbeing Space. Saruni Samburu is the only lodge in Kalama Conservancy, which borders Samburu National Reserve, with 200,000 acres of unspoiled wilderness to explore and enjoy exclusively. You are guided from start to finish by Samburu warriors who are passionate about their land and their culture, learning first-hand about their fascinating customs and traditions and gaining ancient, local knowledge about the land and the animals – a truly authentic experience.

After your 3 nights in Samburu, your guide will transfer you back to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara. Upon landing at your the airstrip, you will be met by your Maasai Guide for transfer to Kicheche Bush Camp. Situated within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, Kicheche Bush Camp is a small, classic, intimate, luxury tented camp completely unfenced, amongst stunning whistling thorn acacias. The ultra low-impact spread of six guests tents in the trees and low escarpment beyond, provide the perfect hideaway in this outstanding wilderness. The personal attention at camp and exclusivity of the conservancy offer a winning combination.

Through its strict limit on bed numbers, the Conservancy offers an incomparable game viewing experience without crowds. There are 30,000 acres of rolling grassland, hills, escarpment and the Motorogi plains located immediately to the north of the Ol Kiombo area of the Reserve. Within Olare Motorogi there is great walking country and also the opportunity to overnight in a fly camp.
