Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, after clearing with Immigration and customs, you will be welcomed by a Swissport airport representative who will assist you to the waiting vehicle. Your Virgin Wilderness Safaris driver/guide will provide documentation with information regarding your safari. He will then transfer you to the House of Waine. This is an 11 bedroom luxury boutique hotel on 2.5 acres that blends the elegance of gracious living with the spirit of modern Africa in an exclusive and serene setting. Our aim is to provide our guests with an experience that exceeds all their expectations of city hotels and is punctuated by personalised, friendly and excellent service and cuisine in beautiful surroundings.
Depending on your arrival time into Nairobi, you can have excursions in the Karen area. A Nairobi full day tour can happen anytime between 8:00am - 10:00am and includes visits to the Karen Blixen Museum where you view relics and listen to a narration of Kenya’s colonial history. Enjoy lunch at the Karen Blixen coffee garden, the Talisman, Open House or any of the Gourmet Restaurants located in this serene area. A visit to the Kazuri Beads where you can view the women artisans at work and maybe buy yourselves local gifts in support of the self help local women’s project. Later in the afternoon visit the Giraffe centre where you can feed the Rothschild Giraffe and later to the David Sheldrick baby elephant orphanage where you view the orphan baby elephants feeding (the public viewing time is between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon but you can foster an elephant baby and visit during the foster parents feeding time at 17:00 pm-to be booked in advance). A short drive out of Nairobi’s central business district is the Nairobi National Park. Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse bird life with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and the walking trails for hikers.
On this day, after breakfast, at 08:45 am your Virgin Wilderness Safaris driver will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your flight scheduled flight departing at 10:20 am to Kamok-Nanyuki. 11:20 on arrival at Nanyuki/Or Kamok airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to the camp for lunch. Proceed for an afternoon game drive.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Resting at the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain Range, in central Kenya's Laikipia County, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It is also home to the last three remaining northern white rhino in the world. Originally a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya and now a pioneering wildlife conservancy, Ol Pejeta works to protect wildlife and provide a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. The Conservancy is a popular safari destination and is home to the renowned ‘Big Five’ as well as a wide selection of other African animals including: zebra, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, jackal, serval, hyena, vervet monkey and many more. Visitors can enjoy an assortment of outdoor activities such as horse rides, game walks, and nocturnal game drives.
On this day, after breakfast you will through the Mount Kenya area, stop over at the beautiful Thompsons falls for a picnic lunch, proceed into the Rift Valley arriving in time for a hearty sundowner and night game drive at the beautiful Kiangazi House.
Kiangazi House is a beautiful Country House situated on a hill, set among lush gardens and rolling lawns with unsurpassed scenery of Lake Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley, adjacent to the private 18,000 acre Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary complete with a fascinating diversity of wildlife including White Rhino, Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, Oryx and many species of antelope. Kiangazi House has 7 double rooms, all en-suite. Luxurious features like four- poster beds, romantic turn downs and freshly cut roses, all enhance the personal touch. Within the house, the private lounges, bar or library, all with fireplaces, are the perfect places to curl up on a couch with a glass of exquisite wine.
In and around Naivasha there is plenty to do; Kiangazi also provide day trips to Nakuru National park, where you can see black and white rhinos. Also nearby is Hells Gate National Park, famous for Fischer’s tower, skyscraper sized cliffs and its endless ravines. Bikes are available for hire at the Gate.They are also able to arrange visits to Elsamere Centre, the home of world famous Joy and George Adamson. Horse riding is available at an extra cost.
On this day, your guide will transfer you to the Loldia Airstrip in Naivasha for your scheduled flight departing at 10:15am for the Masai Mara. After take off you will you will fly over the Great Rift Valley and the conservancies around Maasai Mara. Look out for the elephants and giraffes that are easily visible from the sky! The Emboo River team will await you at the Ol Kiombo airstrip in the Maasai Mara. Freshen up in your room, relax in the lodge, and as soon as you want you'll leave on your first Game Drive - in an electric safari vehicle - into the Maasai Mara ! We are stepping up the eco game! We are the first lodge in the Maasai Mara with Electric Safari Vehicles, which are silent and create no exhaust fumes. We are also full solar and recycle all our waste water with local plants. We have reduced water consumption by 90%!
Located in a river bend within the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Emboo River is the perfect spot for your Glamping Safari. At Emboo River you can enjoy a luxurious holiday in the midst of nature. Game Drives start as soon as you jump into our Electric Safari Vehicle. You can even see animals inside the lodge, as Emboo River is not fenced. During the Great Migration season, the herds use a popular River Crossing close. You will be in the centre if the action! This sustainable luxury camp blends in with its surroundings, allowing you to watch animals while enjoying breakfast, and is committed to empower the local community.
Morning Game Drive and Lunch in the bush: Do you feel like sleeping in and hanging by the swimming pool or you prefer to go on a morning drive? At any time of the day you will see lots of animals in the Maasai Mara. Thanks to our silent Electric Safari Vehicles we can get up close to animals.
You can even see animals in the lodge, as Emboo River does not have a fence. In the evenings you can enjoy a drink and bites by the camp fire. It's the perfect moment to share stories, gaze at the stars or listen to the tales from the Maasai.
Sundowners- You can also enjoy a sundowner in the bush! Under an acacia tree while looking over the savannah, you can try one of our Emboo Dawas! A delicious cocktail / mocktail with Kenyan flavours.
